Tom Lea was a genius of the twentieth century with extraordinary gifts as a muralist, illustrator, war correspondent, portraitist, landscapist, novelist, and historian. Tom’s greatest desire was to use the tools of both artist and writer to express the wonder of life, especially in the Southwest.
When speaking about the Southwest, Tom said, “Its richness is in space, wide and deep and infinitely colored, visible to the mountain rim of the world. Huge and challenging space to evoke high and challenging freedom.”
